An Egyptian Entrepreneurial Adventure

In late June, a team of young American and Danish entrepreneurs landed in Egypt. Their mission: to educate aspiring Egyptian entrepreneurs on how to build a business. Sponsored by the U.S. and Danish governments, the week-long NexGen IT Entrepreneur Boot Camp had broader goals too—helping to rebuild the economy and create jobs after the fall of Hosni Mubarak after 30 years in power. The problems and challenges the country faces won’t be solved overnight, but it was a start, says founder and CEO of the Marketing Zen Group Shama Kabani, who blogged about her experiences for Portfolio.com. “I came here as their mentor, and I leave here as their friend,” she wrote on her last day. “This short journey has ended, but their entrepreneurial journey has just begun.” Scott Gerber, founder of the Young Entrepreneur Council and delegate at the boot camp, took a camera and interviewed the participants during the week. He provided the footage to Portfolio.com.
