Paying for Paperless Bills
A Seattle company with backing from Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, among others, has raised eight figures to further its online bill-paying service.
Doxo has also cut a deal with Puget Sound Energy allowing that company’s 750,000 customers to get their bills online through Doxo’s service.
The company announced Tuesday that it has raised $10 million in a funding round led by Sigma Partners. Previous investors Bezos, Expeditions, and Mohr Davidow Ventures also participated, John Cook of TechFlash reports.
Cook writes:
Doxo has developed a free "digital file cabinet" for consumers in which they can receive, organize, pay, and file all their bills from multiple service providers with one password. The startup employs 20 people, and with the new funding in place it plans to ramp up hiring this year. The company has raised a total of $15.25 million to date.

- A Fare Fight?: Business travelers who are back on the road after a cluster of brutal winter storms are seeing a harsh new world ruled by higher fares, new surcharges, and more fees.
- Facebook's Foes: Giants like Facebook don't rise without shaking things up, and the social network is certainly rattling some of Silicon Valley's powerhouses. At the same time, its rise is opening opportunities for entrepreneurs.
