Five Reasons for 3Par's Success

Here's the real, inside story explaining why Dell and HP are in a relentless bidding war for 3Par, a recently obscure company that makes storage for computer networks.

5. HP is determined to prove to investors that it is more than just a reality TV show.

4. Perhaps Oracle CEO Larry Ellison was precipitous when he said cloud computing was "nonsense."

3. Former Sun CEO Jonathan Schwartz was correct when he said the network is the computer, but timing is everything.

2. Ellison was just making a head fake (see 4 above.) That's why he bought Sun.

1. 3Par CEO David Scott's egg salad recipe can't be beat. The bidding war is really driven by the corporate chefs at HP and Dell.
