Miss the "Shore"? There's an App for That

Snooki

You knew it was coming. Jersey Shore has spawned both an online game and an iPhone app.

Just in time for the show’s second season, the game, which launches Tuesday, pits online players against each other in one-on-one battles between animated versions of the housemates, MTV says.

"We have structured the game around the themes of the show," Tony Espinoza, vice president of social games for MTV Networks, tells Reuters. "And it's a social experience where people can interact."

For those craving social interaction on the go, iTunes is releasing a “Spread Snooki” app that lets users fist pump, or see what they would look like with the diminutive breakout star’s headshot attached to photos of their choice.

"It's fun, It's simple, it's Snooki," head of MTV wireless Michael Scogin says. "These guys have become pop culture icons as they are larger than life characters. This is the perfect franchise to broaden out from that."

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio, and the rest of the cast will have to see how pal Snooki’s app fares before signing their own deals. But they’re already showing entrepreneurial signs, with The Situation having recently announced a clothing line and exercise videos in the works, while Pauly D spins at various night clubs. And Jenni “JWoww” Farley helms Filthy Couture, a fashion line that features skin-tight dresses, swimwear, and tops.

But Snooki seems to be the clear branding mastermind, using her pop culture success to teach anyone who'll watch how to tan, how to pouf, how to drink, and how to defend a lady's honor. So it's no wonder that she was the one selected to brave the app front.

Maybe for her next career move she should consider a partnership with a liquor or beer brand. At least that way she can keep drinking on the job.
