Yahoo in Google's Top 10

Facebook” was the word most searched for in March in the United States, according to Experian Hitwise, but many Google searchers were looking for something else: Yahoo.

“Yahoo mail” was No. 6 on the top-10 list of Google search terms in March, while “Yahoo” was No. 7.

Although "facebook topped the list for all three major search engines in the United States, people searching on Google, Yahoo, and Bing sites often used them to look for their rivals’ sites: “Google” was the No. 6 term searched for on Yahoo, while it was No. 2 on Bing and “yahoo mail,” “yahoo.com,” and “yahoo” were Nos. 7, 8, and 9 on Bing.

Even at No. 1, “facebook” accounted for just 1.17 percent of searches on Google, 1.7 percent on Yahoo, and 2.6 percent on Bing, which is run by Microsoft.

Other searches about the Palo Alto social website also ranked high in March: “facebook login” and “facebook.com” also ranked in the top 10 on Yahoo and Bing, while “facebook login” was No. 3 on Google.
