iPad Apps Needed
As Apple gets ready to stock shelves with its iPad tablet device, software developers are hurrying to make their iPhone apps compatible with the new device.
The AppSlice website reports that just 16,700 of the more than 140,000 applications that developers have created for the iPhone and iPod Touch have been certified as iPad-compatible so far, according to Forbes.
AppSlice reports that about 50 of those apps are compatible only with the 3G version, all relying on GPS functionality.
Mobile media research firm Busted Loop, meanwhile, reports that the iBook store will have many more categories than Apple's iPhone App Store.
Busted Loop report that eBooks will be divided into more than 150 subcategories, compared to the 19 subcategories for games in the iPhone App Store.
It said that eBook subcategories will be collected within 20 to 30 top-level groupings.
