Facebook Co-founder Raises Money for New Project

Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal reports: Dustin Moskovitz, a co-founder and the first CTO of Facebook Inc, has closed a $9 million first round of funding for his new enterprise-collaboration startup, Asana.

Asana was founded by Moskovitz and former Palo Alto-based Facebook engineer Justin Rosenstein.

On its website, Asana said its product is "not another enterprise-application suite, nor is it an "ajaxification" of existing desktop software concepts; it is a new kind of software product, built for the Web from the ground up, with a focus on speed, collaboration, and ease of use."

Funders include Benchmark Capital and Andreessen-Horowitz, which have offices in Menlo Park. Matt Cohler of Benchmark is taking a seat on the board.

The company also said on its website that it is hiring in the fields of designer, developer, and "businessperson."
