Bing, Google Show Growth in Search

TechFlash reports: New numbers from the comScore Networks research firm show Microsoft Bing rising to 9.9 percent of the U.S. search market in October, according to a Bloomberg News report. That compares with a low of 8 percent for Microsoft's search engine in May, the month before the Bing launch.

At the same time, Google also continued to rise, hitting market share of 65.4 percent. That appears to be a record high for the search giant in the U.S. market, based on TechFlash's spreadsheet of historical comScore data. Yahoo fell to 18 percent for the month—a new low for the company, according to our spreadsheet.

Yahoo's share has fallen relatively steadily since July, when it announced plans for a search and advertising partnership in which Microsoft is slated to ultimately provide the technology for Yahoo's search engine. The deal is undergoing regulatory review.

A report from Experian Hitwise last week similarly showed Bing rising to just under 10 percent in October, although it had Google and Yahoo both falling slightly for the month.
