Biotech Firm Light Sciences Raises $35 Million

TechFlash reports: Light Sciences Oncology, a Bellevue, Washington-based biotechnology company working on treatments for cancer, said today in a SEC filing that it has raised $35 million. The money comes in the form of a $23.3 credit facility, as well as $11.5 million in warrants.

Light Sciences filed to go public in April 2006, but rocky financial conditions forced the company to withdraw plans for the offering in February 2008.

In June of last year, the company raised $40 million in a series C financing deal.

The company's technology uses light-emitting diodes to activate drugs that can kill cancer tissue.
