Google Launching Its Own Music Service

Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal reports: Google Inc. reportedly is getting ready to launch a new music service.

The TechCrunch blog reported Wednesday that Google has been in talks with the major music labels lining up content for what one of its sources said will be called Google Audio.

The blog based its report on what it said are multiple unnamed sources.

TechCrunch said it will be available in the U.S., but it isn't clear if it will be a download service like iTunes or a streaming service like Pandora.

Google launched a music-download service in China last year that allows users to search and download free music. TechCrunch said the new U.S. service will be different, however.
