Palm Cracks Open App Store

The Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal reports: Mobile products company Palm Inc. said Tuesday that developers who wish to charge for their Palm webOS applications can begin submitting them in an e-commerce beta program.

Sunnyvale-based Palm said developers selected will have the opportunity to have their applications, both free and paid, featured in the Palm App Catalog and will be among the first to be paid for purchases of their Palm webOS applications.

Developers will receive a 70 percent split -- with 30 percent going to Palm -- of gross revenue generated through application sales.

More information about how developers can submit an application for the beta e-commerce program, as well as criteria for application acceptance, is available on the Palm Developer Network blog at http://pdnblog.palm.com/.
