Yahoo, Losing Its Political Hound
Kevin Maney writes: About 15 months ago, Yahoo bought a blog tracking company called BuzzTracker and brought on its founder and CEO, Alan Warms. Alan also for a while ran political junkie site Real Clear Politics. He joined Yahoo News to try to do some cool new Web 2.0 things with political coverage, and oversaw the development of a quite cool Web 2.0 thing called the Yahoo Political Dashboard -- which, it seems to me, Yahoo promptly let fall into obscurity.
The Dashboard, by the way, at the moment predicts 318 electoral votes for Obama, and 181 for McCain.
Anyway, Alan's payout with Yahoo is ending, and so he's leaving. He'll be in the Yahoo newsroom on election night, though. Another key Yahoo News exec, Scott Moore, also seems to be leaving. So Yahoo is losing some high-powered leadership just as it's trying to bounce back.
