Foo Fighters: Corporate Tech Band du Jour

Kevin Maney writes: So I noticed that the Foo Fighters just rocked out on Wednesday night for 1,400 people in Los Angeles -- to promote the latest BlackBerry.


And then, as it turns out, next week Salesforce.com will be holding its annual blowout conference, called Dreamforce, in San Francisco. Guess who's playing at the big gala bash. The Foo Fighters!

What's with that? Maybe the Foos are just the right combination of edgy and mainstream so that a company hiring them seems hip, but without much risk. Not like hiring Green Day and getting a bunch of F-words on stage.

Or perhaps it's the Foos' inspirational lyrics, like...

I'm called a cow

I'm not about

to blow it now

for all the cows
