First Bytes: Perkins, Motorola, Apple, Microsoft

- The Maltese Falcon, the 289-foot mega-sailboat owned by legendary venture capitalist Tom Perkins -- as in Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers -- has landed in San Fransisco. [NYT, CBS5]

- Motorola is beefing up its Android team and Nokia and Verizon are "sniffing around," according to tech blog rumors. [News.com]

- Another Apple rumor: Is the iPhone coming to Verizon? [9to5mac.com]

- Microsoft is adding JQuery, an open-source software tool that makes it easier to write websites, to its developer platform. [eWeek]
