3D TV: Perfect for that Millionaire Banker Now Out of a Job

Kevin Maney writes: Some might say that it's terrible timing for Panasonic to come out with one of the most over-the-top outrageous home theater systems yet devised. After all, the U.S. financial system seems to be collapsing and, if you believe the pundits, we're all soon going to be out of our fancy jobs and relying on subsistence farming.

But...maybe there's a counter-intuitive argument. Engadget reports that Panasonic is about to unveil a 103-inch plasma-screen 3D TV, packaged with a specialized Blu-ray player and 3D goggles. The price? Panasonic's not saying, but you know it's got to be north of the full price of a year at Harvard. Yet this could be the right product at the right time. In New York alone, thousands of hedge fund jockeys, investment bankers and caffeinated traders -- people who regularly made $1 million a year -- are or will be suddenly sitting home with nothing to do and lots of money to do it with. Voila! There's your market for the Panasonic bling TV.

Only the best for the folks we're all bailing out, no?
