Sony "Targets" Kindle
Sam Gustin notes: Sony has announced that its Reader Digital Book will be available in over 1,600 Target stores starting this Sunday, Sept. 14th.
Sony is also offering various accessories, including eBook prepaid cards, as well as a coupon to receive a free copy of The Other Queen by Philippa Gregory from Sony's eBook store.
Sony's device is aimed at the growing e-book market. Most of the attention in this space has been devoted to Amazon's Kindle, which has said that it chooses not to sell its product in stores, but by word of mouth instead.
Sony also has a Reader event scheduled in New York for October 2nd, and rumors have been swirling that it plans to unveil to new version of the device.
As we head into the holiday season, it appears that Sony wants to give Kindle a run for its money.
