WSJ Redesign to Offer 'Wonderful Gizmos,' Easier Access to Free Content
The Wall Street Journal is set to launch a much-needed redesign of its website on September 16, and in doing so make it easier for readers to access free content.
The paper, which is still largely subscription based, also recently launched a Blackberry application that boasts access to free articles, at least for a limited time.
And that isn't the only news for the WSJ whose traffic nearly doubled in July compared to last year, according to ComScore.
The new site is also poised to have "lots of wonderful gizmos," said Robert Thomson, managing editor of the Journal, but there are no details yet -- besides the interesting choice of words -- on what these will be.
While the News Corp. publication slowly cracks open its content to the non-subscriber, they are also looking to make some money by pushing for luxury ad sales in a new quarterly print lifestyle magazine (the content of which will coincidentally also be free online).
