AA Wi-Fi: One Small Step For Frequent Fliers
Blaise Zerega says Wi-Fi not. It's about the only thing exciting about air travel these days. American Airlines today began offering the Gogo wi-fi service on 15 of its planes. It costs $12.95 for flights longer than three hours, and $9.95 for shorter flights.
Crunchgear's Peter Ha is liveblogging from 37,000 feet aboard flight #3 from LAX to JFK. So far, so great, according to him. Apparently, voip is not permitted by AA Gogo, but Ha reports that he's running Skype and managed a 5-second voice call.
Other airlines will soon follow. For instance, Delta which on August 5 claimed to be the only airline offering WiFi-- ouch --apparently their service will go live this Fall. Virgin Air is also on board to offer the service soon.
