The Odd HotOrNot Product Extension Strategy

Kevin Maney raises an eyebrow: HotOrNot.com, one of the most entertainingly crass dating Web sites out there, this week launched HotOrNotGossip.com -- which is, hmm, well, kind of like TMZ, if TMZ were run by an Ohio State frat house. I'm trying to figure out what the line of thinking was for that product extension. Co-founders James Hong and Jim Young sold the company earlier this year to Canadian investors, so whatever is going on is the Canadians' idea. And, by the way, I think those pics of Cindy Crawford are a disgrace. Wait -- I better take another look and make sure they're a disgrace. □
