The Bizarre-o Yahoo & Jon Miller Saga

Kevin Maney writes: This evolving situation between Yahoo and Time Warner over Jon Miller is about as strange as anything in recent weeks. Miller used to run AOL and bravely transitioned AOL from a subscription model to an advertising model. He would indisputably be the best compromise board member in the struggle between Carl Icahn and Yahoo management. And Miller apparently thought it was OK to accept a Yahoo board seat if offered -- even though he has a non-compete with Time Warner that stretches until spring 2009.

Now bits are surfacing that Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes says he never agreed to let Miller joined Yahoo and that Miller misinterpreted "body language" in thinking it was OK. Huh? How can something that significant have been that nonchalant? And for that matter, news has been out for a week that Miller was a candidate. Why did Bewkes wait until now to yank Miller back?

We'll watch for what happens next. As Silicon Alley Insider humorously points out, one possibility is that Miller will march down to TW headquarters and break Bewkes in two...
