Last Bytes: iPhone, Microsoft, VMWare

-- "[N]O Canada!" Apple won't be selling the new iPhone in its Canadian retail stores, due to its displeasure with service provider Rogers' pricing plans. Then again, Apple isn't selling the new iPhone at any of its own retail stores outside the U.S., either, News.com notes. [Apple Insider, News.com]

-- Michael Arrington thinks Microsoft "crossed a line" with yesterday's double-team body slam of Yahoo and Jerry Yang. [TechCrunch]

-- Meanwhile, Microsoft admits that it "broke a lot of things" with its Vista operating system, but Vista is nevertheless misunderstood by critics, so the company has decided "to tell the real story," with a massive new ad campaign.  [All About Microsoft, Information Week]

-- VMWare, the "virtualization" software company with $1.3 billion in annual revenue, has replaced outgoing chief executive Diane Greene with Paul Maritz. The company's shares fell almost 25 percent Tuesday. [VMWare]
