Yikes! My ATM PIN is Protected by...Windows?
Kevin Maney worries: It's bad enough that hackers have been able to break into Citibank's ATMs and steal PIN numbers. The scary part is this sentence from the AP story: "Hackers are targeting the ATM system's infrastructure, which is increasingly built on Microsoft Corp.'s Windows operating system and allows machines to be remotely diagnosed and repaired over the Internet."
All this time I thought my bank had computers that ran on a super-secret, locked-down, bad-ass operating system that the aliens from Close Encounters of the Third Kind couldn't even hack. But...Windows? Windows?!
