First Bytes: Microsoft, Yahoo, Blockbuster...
-- Microsoft is chatting with major media companies including Time Warner and News Corp. about a joint deal to to buy Yahoo's search business-and blow the internet company out of the water. And, as it turns out, Yahoo was looking to sell itself to Microsoft after all--for 33 bucks a share just in mid-May after Steve Ballmer withdraw an offer to buy the company. [WSJ]
-- Yahoo shares dropped below $20 for the first time since Microsoft tried to buy the company. [News.com]
-- Activists are challenging Barack Obama's decision to support a bill granting telecom firms immunity from charges relating to their participation in the government's illegal wiretapping program. Related: The ACLU and the Electronic Frontier Foundation have sued the Justice Dept. for records detailing how the government tracks citizens through their cellphones. [NYT]
