Microsoft: How Many Search R&D Centers Does it Take to Make a Winning Product?
Kevin Maney gasps: Ah. We see that Microsoft is about to create yet another search-related R&D center, this time in Europe. Maybe this one will do the trick.
Microsoft already has a Search Labs in Silicon Valley, a Search Technology Center in Beijing, other search and advertising labs in China, and various search-related projects at Microsoft Research in Redmond, Wash. It also owns a search company based in Europe.
And still Microsoft is way behind Google in search and wanted to buy Yahoo's search business. What's up with that? Apparently this is not a problem that's solvable by simply overwhelming it.
