50 Cent and the Path to Niche Social Networking
Rapper 50 Cent is creating a sizable social network on his own site, Thisis50.com -- instead of relying on his page on MySpace. This kind of niche social networking is a powerful wave that's been coming for more than a year. Marc Andreessen's Ning has been positioned perfectly to catch it. If anything will threaten the growth of MySpace and Facebook, this is it -- online socializing moving away from mass social sites and to more focused sites.
