The Wales Tale
The tech world can't come close to the lurid excitement of Eliot Spitzer's sex scandal. But it does have its own ongoing tale of a soiled hero. In this case, it's Jimmy Wales, the guy who started Wikipedia -- a former options trader who became an open-source evangelist. The Times' story is done in proper journalism, but tech-gossip site Valleywag has gleefully published every sordid detail it can get its hands on.
The newest revelation is that Wales has a business relationship with Elevation Partners' Roger McNamee. For a lot more on McNamee, read my colleague Amy Wallace's Portfolio
story.
