Microprojectors in Cell Phones: an Update

Last September, I wrote about a little company called Microvision that was developing tiny projectors that could be built into cell phones. The company had just signed a deal with Motorola.

At the CTIA show in a few weeks, Microvision will be showing a prototype of its microprojectors, the company tells me. You still can't buy an actual cell phone with the projector embedded. Meanwhile, companies including Samsung and Texas Instruments have their own efforts to build microprojectors. One way or another, it seems that these will be among the next advances in wireless gadgets.
