Fate of Teoma

Who has the best search technology not called Google? Microsoft has poured millions into search R&D for years. Yahoo has struggled to stay in the game. But a lot of people believe the best pure technology is something called Teoma, which currently is owned by Ask.com. Lately, rumors have been bouncing around that Ask will sell Teoma and just use Google to power its search -- though Ask and its parent, Barry Diller's IAC, say it isn't so.

I've followed Teoma for a number of years -- in part because it came out of my alma mater, Rutgers. Its story is pretty interesting, though not often told in the media. Perhaps it will eventually have its day, but realistically, given Google's dominance, I think not.
