A Genius, a New Way to Board Planes, and an Obvious Point Missed

Astrophysicist Jason Steffen is getting a ton of attention for using mathematical models to figure out a way to board airliners far more quickly. His answer is to board passengers in alternating rows, a handful at a time.

The airlines might be interested, but this presents a major hurdle: Every major airline lets their premium customers board first, and some -- like United -- have a section of seats with more legroom for those customers. Boarding by alternating rows would mean having to throw out all that. Not likely to happen.
