YouTube Going Live; Catching Up to UStream

A bit of a big deal being made today about YouTube apparently getting ready to host live video, not just video uploaded and stored on the site.

But YouTube will only be catching up to UStream, which has been a live user-generated video site since last year. I met with UStream co-founder Brad Hunstable about a month ago, and the site, while small in audience compared to YouTube, is getting attention and growing. The Republican party will use it to show the convention this summer. Mike Huckabee used it to broadcast a fundraising picnic he held with Chuck Norris. A rumor floated earlier this month that Microsoft might buy UStream. Now that would be interesting...
