Yet Another Comedy Internet TV Start-up (Yawn)
Internet TV entrepreneurs and VCs have apparently run out of ideas, because the same ones keep surfacing over and over. On Wednesday, we'll get the launch of yet another comedy video Web site, this one dubbed Independent Comedy Network. (Tagline, "Comedy for the 'reasonably' intelligent." That's supposed to make me want to tune in?)
This joins FunnyOrDie, MyDamnChannel, 60Frames and a smattering of other so-called comedy sites. I'd suggest that someone launch a channel with more interesting programming, but that would be wasted energy. As the Joost folks told me, a large portion of the people watching Internet TV are basically 25-year-old males who tune to sports, comedy and anything with girls in bikinis. Hard to tell, though, whether this is a chicken or an egg problem.
