You Know What This Means? Beer Vending Machines!
Japan now has "facial recognition" vending machines. They supposedly can analyze the face of a buyer and figure out the approximate age of the person. At this point, it's for cigarettes -- and preventing minors from buying them.
But of course the maker, Fujitaka, will at some point want to expand its market. Yes, I can see it now: vending machines stocked with Heineken and pre-mixed martinis right next to the Coke machine in the office...
