No Time for Hulu-ing
On Monday, a significant new TV-on-the-Web site -- a joint venture of NBC Universal and News Corp. -- will begin a beta test. It's called Hulu. You can sign up now to ask for an invitation.
I signed up to see what it's like, but once I satisfy my curiosity, I can't imagine I'll spend much time on the site. It's an odd thing. I've got Joost, which has beautiful video and a lot of interesting programming. I've got AOL's In2TV, which doesn't quite have the Joost quality but has all kinds of old programs I could watch for hours ("Welcome Back Kotter"!! "Max Headroom"!!!). Yet I never think of going to either. In the small pockets of time when I can actually chill and watch TV, I still tend to turn on...the TV, of all things.
Will that change? Will it only change for generations younger than me?
