The '87 Crash -- and Maybe More of the Same

In October 1987, I was a couple of years into my career at USA Today, writing for the paper's Money section. The great Wall Street crash hit, and I ended up in the hot seat, taking feeds from reporters everywhere and writing three cover stories in three days. It was exhilarating.

Now it's 20 years later. The editors at Portfolio asked me to write an essay playing off the anniversary of the crash. It's here on the Portfolio.com site.
