A New Home Robot?
This afternoon, at DigitalLife in New York, iRobot CEO Colin Angle is supposed to introduce a radically new housework robot of some sort. The company won't say more. My colleague, Andrea Chalupa, will be there and shoot something to the blog as soon as possible -- assuming the new 'bot is worth it. iRobot's last new 'bot was the Scooba, a floor-mopping robot, and it didn't really get people excited. Seemed too much like the company's big hit, Roomba, but with water.
Will be fascinating to see what it is. For what it's worth, I've been testing the latest Roomba, the 530, and it accomplishes something that technology too often fails at: The Roomba is dirt simple. Pulled it out of the box, pushed one button, and it vacuumed my place.
I'm hoping the new 'bot folds laundry.
