Contact Overload!
I was talking with Ted Leonsis -- vice chairman of AOL and owner of the Washington Capitals -- in the hockey team's offices, and he pointed to his recent blog post about all the ways you can get in touch with him. It totals 15, between e-mail addresses, phones, Facebook, and so on. He says that from the time he starts his day, it takes 70 minutes for him to check them all.
Which got me thinking about how many ways I have. I end up with three e-mail addresses, three phone numbers, Facebook, MySpace, AIM, Yahoo Messenger -- and then a bunch of less-involving Web-based ways someone could send me a message, like through Kompoz or Garageband.com. So, 10 primary contact methods and maybe three or four secondary. Unlike Ted, I actually don't want to know how long it takes me to go through those. I'd get depressed.
Would love to hear from readers how many ways you can be contacted. Who makes the Guinness Book of World Records?
