Qwest to Offer Stainless Steel 10-piece Cookware Set with Long-Distance...
Curious how these things work. Qwest this morning announced that CEO Dick Notebaert -- a former CEO of one-time Bell company Ameritech -- has named a successor. He is Edward Mueller -- another former CEO of one-time Bell company Ameritech.
After Ameritech, Mueller became CEO of Williams-Sonoma, the kitchen and household goods company. A year ago, after Williams-Sonoma lost a quarter of its market value, Mueller was pushed aside and the guy who built the company, Howard Lester, would come back and replace him. Lester had been CEO from 1979 to 2001. Williams-Sonoma shares in the past year climbed and then fell back to where they had been when Mueller left, so Lester apparently hasn't done much better.
Qwest stock has had pretty much the same fate over the past year. Maybe if Mueller offers a crock pot to every new phone customer...
