Tom Friedman Freed! Yay!

The New York Times will reportedly end its journalistic experiment of charging for premium content. The Times in 2005 launched TimesSelect, charging a subscription to get popular columnists like Tom Friedman and Maureen Dowd. The rest of the newspaper industry thought this was a dumb idea, as shown by the fact that no one else followed suit.

How long before Rupert Murdoch realizes that it's also a dumb idea to be charging for on-line access to The Wall Street Journal?
