Carterfone for the Cell Phone Age

Early this year, FCC Chairman Kevin Martin talked to me over a beer about the possibility of decoupling cell phone handsets from cell phone carriers -- so you could pick any phone and use it on any network. (Which is how things work in most of the rest of the world.)

Now, it appears the FCC is getting more serious.
