Evolution of the Metaverse

As personal computing power and bandwidth increases, online representations of the real world will get more and more...well...real. The online world and real world will increasingly fuse, until they're not all that distinguishable from each other -- kind of like the fictional Metaverse.

Virtual worlds, 3D photos, 360-degree images, geo-tagging, satellite images -- they're all pieces of the evolutionary puzzle that are slowly coming together.

Anyway, a TechCrunch has a good post about some of the more advanced versions of this.
