Help Me Make Original Tech-related Music
Ever so slowly, technology is coming together to make it easy for basement musicians in far-flung places to create music together without ever meeting. That was the subject of the NPR story that featured a song I'd posted on collaboration site called Splice.
In conjunction with this blog, I'm going to try to host an ongoing online music party. You are all invited. I'd like us to make some fun songs together that fit with the themes of Portfolio -- business, technology, money, culture, etc. This time, I'm going to try a new music collaboration site, Kompoz.
On Thursday, I posted the bare bones of two songs on Kompoz. Anyone can go there and add anything to the songs -- other instruments, background vocals, sounds. As the songs evolve, I'll post some of the better versions here. I'd love to get your comments about the songs.
In the brief time since I posted on Kompoz, a few musicians have added some touches. One guy -- "MDK," from Jacksonville, N.C. -- did a rough version of a full arrangement. He posted the first minute or so of the song to see if anyone likes it before continuing. You can hear it here:
The song is called "I Dream of Bangalore." It is, I believe, the first love song about outsourcing.
