The Interview, 2.0

In case you missed it, there is a big, ongoing, silly-as-hell snit going on between Wired magazine and, primarily, Jason Calacanis about doing interviews via e-mail.

But it made me wonder: why aren't journalists (yes, like me) using new technologies to gather information and interviews in interesting ways. Like, the public wiki. Why not put up a wiki about a subject and ask anyone who knows anything to throw in their two cents? Anyone have any suggestions on how best to go about that? I might give it a try.

And video interviews? No journalist I know uses them, yet video is simple on Yahoo Messenger, Skype, etc. Would subjects agree to it? I don't know -- I admit I've never asked. Maybe I will.
