Perhaps the Worst Ideas Ever
Here's a phrase that should forever horrify you: "instant climatic gratification." According to the latest Wilson Quarterly, some very big-time scientists are actually discussing technological ways to reverse global warming more or less instantly.
Among them: using artillery to fill the sky with reflective sulfate aerosols, a 15-mile skyhose that would pump reflective particles into the atmosphere, and giant mirrors in orbit over the polar caps. We can only assume, and hope, that these folks are well-versed in the law of unintended consequences. . □
