Ooo, a Hundred Million...

Big news this week: Apple has sold 100 million iPods. Hey, it's even news in Malaysia.

So how does that compare? Well, by 2005, Sony had sold 100 million PlayStation 2 games. Symbian says 100 million smart phones use its operating system. Sharp says it hit 100 million microwave ovens in 2005.

The Internet hit 100 million Web sites in 2006. Microsoft in January got to 100 million Internet Explorer 7 installations. Skype got to 100 million subscribers by last year.

And YouTube serves up 100 million videos A DAY!

None of that means much of anything, except that if you type "100 million" into Google, you find a whole lot of crazy stuff.
