Déjà Vu All Over Again at Sundance
David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, and Neil Young rolled into the SKY360 by Delta-Park City lounge on Main Street today, Andrea Chalupa reports from Park City, Utah. The group is at the Sundance Film Festival promoting their documentary CSNY Déjà Vu that captures their "Freedom of Speech Tour" across North America.
The four were all smiles together and so were the lucky few who were around, trying to hold their tongues that Four Way Street was one of the best albums in history, as one technician who had set up the lights for their on-camera interview had blurted out as soon as the guys left.
CSNY Déjà Vu will play tomorrow night in Park City. Tonight the musicians will be gracing the stage of Star Bar at the end of Main Street as part of the festival's ongoing Music Cafe that has featured artists like Patti Smith and Sea Wolf. Already, an hour before the performance, people of all ages were lining up in a snow flurry to get in.
CSNY Déjà Vu follows the group's tour through North America as they try to connect with audiences over a message of peace, civil liberties, and awareness of the human cost of the war in Iraq.
Bernard Shakey is credited as director, but that's only a pseudonym for Young. He told Hollywood Heat Tru TV reporter Sara Mayer that he didn't want his music name associated with the cutthroat movie business, he said a bit tongue in cheek.
The band members said they hoped that CSNY Déjà Vu inspires activism against the war in Iraq, awareness of families torn apart by the war.
