Introducing Entertainment Blogger Fred Schruers
Hello. I'll be taking over stewardship of the this blog from the estimable Tim Swanson, who's becoming the film editor at the Los Angeles Times.
My bio is available at Portfolio.com; most recently I was on staff in the Los Angeles bureau of Premiere magazine, from 2001 until the print edition closed its doors in April of this year.
I plan to carry forward the film industry insights gained from several years of reporting Premiere's annual Power List, covering what is often the screech of metal on metal where art meets commerce--thus award prognostications will be made, with the emphasis on what's onscreen rather than the buzz-chasing, pin-the-tail-on-the donkey game.
Television and music and even relevant books and media will have their innings here as well, and there will be reports on crucial industry events. (Condé Nast Portfolio has other skilled staffers regularly plumbing Hollywood for features--we eat the sushi at parties for 1,500 so you don't have to.)
Comments are of course welcomed, so bring on the pseudonyms, discuss and debate (no clinches, no kidney punches) and let's make this a cooperative effort. Thanks for reading.
