Excellent News: Bill & Ted Are Coming Back
Hollywood can't seem to get enough of the '80s. First a Footloose remake and now I read in Jay Fernandez's Scriptland column in the LA Times that MGM is dusting off one of the most beloved franchises of my youth. I am a little concerned that it's going straight-to-DVD, but I'm holding out hope that it can capture some of the spirit of the original. That would be, in their words of the stoney sounding duo, "excellent."
MGM is developing a straight-to-DVD revisiting of the late-'80s cult classic "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" for producer Frank Mancuso Jr. at 360 Pictures. Although their deal is still being worked out, writers Gabe Grifoni and Suzanne Francis ("Wieners") have already turned in an outline for an updated take on San Dimas' most excellent native sons.
