Fall Back in Love With Gay Robot
A friend of mine turned me on to the pilot for this show called Gay Robot. Perhaps you recognize up-and-coming comedian Nick Swardson (Blades of Glory) as the star and voice of said robot (who became gay when his scientist creator spilled a wine cooler on him while he was being built). Swardson also created the show. I've seen him do stand up a few times in LA and he's really, really funny. But the more recognizable name is obviously Adam Sandler, whose Happy Madison shingle produced the pilot with Sony TV for Comedy Central (Gay Robot was a bit Swardson did with Sandler on Sandler's fith comedy album Shhh...Don't Tell). The pilot has been around for a while (VH1's Best Week Ever called it's star the best gay robot after Rosie from the Jetsons...I'd actually give that award to C3P0), and Gay Robot even has his own MySpace page, but this is the first time I'd watched the entire episode. Word is that you might actually be seeing the show sometime in the near future on Comedy Central. And if you want more (questionable) homosexuality-is-hilarious material from Sandler, remember that his movie I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, with Kevin James, hits theaters July 20.
