Want A Counterfeit Spider-Man 3 DVD? -- "Wait a few days."

Okay, maybe Sony was right. Those pesky Chinese pirates weren't actually peddling real Spider-Man 3 DVDs. Reuters, which originally wrote the story about how bootleg versions of the yet-to-be-released movie were already for sale on the street, returns to the black market for a closer look. Sure, the package sports the movie's title, showing the superhero crouching in the black Spidey suit, and even credits Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst in Chinese. But what happens when you actually put the disc in?

When played in a DVD machine, the screen showed a 2001 television movie "Earth vs. The Spider" starring Dan Aykroyd as a detective investigating the case of a spider-like killer.

Now that is a criminal act. So when can you get your hands on an illegal Chinese copy of the Sony blockbuster?

"Wait a few days," said a worker at a DVD shop in Beijing's Sanlitun embassy district, who declined to leave her name. "I'll have a good copy for you then."

Spider-Man 3 opens in the US on May 4th.
