Amazon: Merry Christmas, We're Hiring
Amazon.com is investing more than a quarter billion dollars in its Southern strategy for goods distribution.
The dominant e-commerce company announced this morning it would spend $270 million on new facilities in Tennessee and Virginia, slated to open next fall.
Amazon plans to spend $85 million in Chesterfield County, Virginia, south of Richmond, and another $50 million in Dinwiddie County. That money will go to fulfillment centers in the two counties, creating an expected 1,350 jobs altogether.
In Tennessee, the e-tailer plans to spend $135 million on new fulfillment centers and create about 1,300 jobs.
